When you need secure and reliable mounting in cavities, spring toggle bolts are the perfect solution. At SMK Meister, we offer you high-quality spring toggle bolts for professional installation on cavity walls, suspended ceilings, suspended ceilings and various sandwich elements.
With more than 50 years of industry experience, we at SMK Meister understand the requirements of modern fastening technology and develop solutions that guarantee the highest dimensional accuracy and quality.
The spring toggle bolt is characterized by its innovative spring mechanism, which enables widespread distribution of pressure in the cavity. This results in a high load capacity and safety of your structure. Whether for lightweight suspensions or demanding installations, our spring toggle bolt gives you the flexibility and reliability you need for your projects.

Installing our spring toggle bolt is extremely easy: You drill the hole, insert the bolt — and the attachment is done. No time-consuming preparation, no complicated tools — simply work efficiently.
After tightening the threaded rod, the M6 spring toggle bolt or M8 spring toggle bolt is instantly ready to bear load. You don't have to wait for any curing times and can get on with your work straight away — a real time advantage on the construction site.
Regardless of whether you want to attach to a suspended ceiling, plasterboard wall or a sandwich element — the spring toggle bolt is suitable for various surfaces. Its versatility makes it an indispensable assistant in fastening technology.
Compared to other cavity plugs, the spring toggle bolt requires only a small cavity depth. This makes it particularly flexible to use, even when space is limited behind the wall or ceiling.
The spring toggle bolt has a clever mechanism: First, insert the folded bolt through the drilled hole into the cavity. As soon as the bolt has passed the back of the wall or ceiling, the spring-loaded wings open automatically. When the threaded rod is tightened, the bolt pulls against the back of the wall and thus creates a flat distribution of force. The spring ensures that the folding arms are always under tension and press firmly against the material. This ensures secure and durable anchoring, even under dynamic loads.
The decisive advantage of the spring toggle bolt is the automatic function and the optimised transfer of force. While the folding mechanism of conventional tilting dowels often has to be manually controlled, the spring-folding bolt opens automatically. In addition, the spring force ensures a constant preload, which is maintained even during vibrations or movements.
Another advantage: The spring toggle bolt is often available in smaller dimensions and requires less cavity depth.
SMK Meister offers spring toggle bolts in various designs, tailored to your specific requirements. The classic spring toggle bolt comes with a knurled nut and allows mounting with standard threaded rods. For special applications, we offer the spring toggle bolt with hook — ideal for hanging pipes, cable lines or lamps. The version with hexagon nut and plain washer is ideal for plugged-through fixings. In addition, we can also offer you special designs with eyelets or individual thread lengths upon request. Our many years of experience as a manufacturer enable us to produce even small series with customer-specific requirements at short notice.

To install the spring toggle bolt, you only need a few tools: a drill bit of the appropriate diameter (see table), a drill, and a wrench or open-end wrench to tighten the nut. First check the condition of the wall and make sure that there is sufficient cavity depth. Mark the drilling location precisely and check that there are no pipes or cables behind the wall. At SMK Meister, our experts recommend that you always comply with the specified drill diameters in order to achieve optimal holding values.
Assembly takes place in just a few steps: First drill the hole of the intended diameter through the wall or ceiling. Make sure that the drilling depth is sufficient so that the spring toggle bolt can be fully inserted. Now put the folded spring bolt through the drill hole until it completely disappears into the cavity — you will feel when the springs open on the back. Then tighten the threaded rod by hand. The opened bolt pulls against the back of the wall and creates the desired surface distribution of force. The spring toggle bolt can now be loaded immediately.
After assembly, you should check the strength of the connection. Tighten the nut with the recommended torque — our teams of experts at SMK Meister will be happy to provide you with information about the optimal tightening torques for your specific project. Make sure that the spring toggle bolt is secure by shaking it gently. A properly assembled attachment should not show any movement. If necessary, you can still minimally correct the position by turning the threaded rod. Document the bolts used and their position for larger projects — this makes subsequent maintenance or expansions easier.
For us, quality is not a promise, but a proven standard. Our ISO certification proves that we consistently comply with the highest quality requirements in all areas of production — from sheet metal processing to fastening technology.
You can rely on us — not only when it comes to quality, but also when it comes to appointments. For over 50 years, our customers have known that we keep our promises. Timely delivery is not a bonus for us, but a natural part of our service.
As a family-run company, we respond quickly and unbureaucratically to your requirements. Short decision-making processes and an experienced team enable us to reliably implement even short-term orders, special solutions and changing requirements.
Our product portfolio in fastening technology is constantly growing — driven by real practical requirements. Whether tilting bolts, heavy-duty folding plugs Big M or Balkonfix: Many of our products were developed in close cooperation with customers and are the result of decades of development work.
Our mounting solutions are not only tried and tested, but are also officially approved and tested. This gives you products that you can blindly rely on in safety-relevant applications, such as in construction and façade technology.
Standard solutions are a good start — but not always the best answer. We take the time to understand your specific requirements and work with you to develop tailor-made solutions in sheet metal and fastening technology.
The required cavity depth depends on the size of the spring toggle bolt. With our M6 spring toggle bolt, the minimum cavity depth is around 35-44 mm. The exact values can be found in our technical table. Note that there must be enough space to open the spring arms.
The spring toggle bolt requires a free cavity to fully open. If cavities are completely filled with insulation material, the function may be impaired.
With double planking, you must take into account the total thickness of the wall structure. The thread length should be at least as long as the sum of both panel thicknesses plus the required screw-in depth (approx. 20-30 mm). For standard cases with double plasterboard paneling (2 x 12.5 mm = 25 mm), we recommend spring toggle bolts with a thread length of at least 70-90 mm. Our experts are happy to help you make the right choice.
Yes, you can also order stainless steel spring fasteners from SMK Meister. These are particularly suitable for humid rooms, outdoor areas or chemically polluted environments. The stainless steel version offers maximum corrosion resistance and guarantees a long service life even under demanding conditions. Talk to us — we will be happy to advise you on the optimal choice of materials for your project.
No, you do not need a special setting tool to install the spring plug. A standard drill with a suitable drill and a standard wrench are completely sufficient. This makes processing particularly simple and cost-effective. Thanks to intuitive handling, you save time on the construction site and can rely on the highest dimensional accuracy and quality.
